Airborne Remote Sensing Acquisitions
Unconventional remote sensing data sets, such as imaging spectrometer data, multi-spectral data, thermal imagery, infrared data, and lidar can be acquired economically throughout the world using the CessnaCam and a local rental or general aviation aircraft. We have worked with a variety of specialty sensors and service providers providing expertise in these remote sensing fields. We have integrated a number of sensors into the CessnaCam pod, often co-mounted with our high resolution natural color digital camera system for additional contextual interpretation.
Imaging Spectrometer/Hyperspectral
We have teamed with Resonon for acquisition of VNIR Imaging Spectrometer data. Airborne Scientific has integrated Resonon's Pika II instrument for collecting 80 spectral bands between 400 and 900nm. This scanner has been integrated in the pod along with Resonon's GPS/IMU direct georeferencing system and our high resolution digital natural color camera for a combined hyperspectral and RGB data collection system. The system can travel as checked baggage on airlines for a very portable international data collection system. (Right Image: Resonon Pika II integration into Pod on a Latin America project)
The CessnaCam can also accommodate several instruments from Specim, including the AISA series such as the AISAeagle and AISAeaglet. See Specim for further information.
Multi-Spectral
Tetracam Inc's MCA multi-spectral sensor has been integrated into the CessnaCam pod. See Tetracam.com for details on the sensor.
Infrared
Several of Airborne Scientifics' cameras can collect both natural color and infrared imagery at high resolution and fast frame rates. We have a variety of cut off filters ranging from 630nm up to 1000nm and many steps in between. (Right Image: Infrared adapted camera co-mounted with Pika II imaging spectrometer)
Thermal
Sensors from a variety of manufacturers can be fitted into the CessnaCam, including instruments from Specim (AisaOwl), FLIR, and others. We have used the ThermoVision® A40 from FLIR for emergency response projects.
Lidar
Light Detection and Ranging (lidar) sensors for topographic surveys, powerline, and corridor surveys can be conducted internationally using our CessnaCam sensor pod. Instruments from Riegl can be integrated into the pod for turnkey operations and can travel as checked airline baggage.
